Stage-by-stage plan

1

May – Jun

Early rains — application 1

Feed fronds, new inflorescences and the bunches that will form through the year.

Recommended

Rate & method: 13-13-21 at 2 kg/tree (trees 4+ years) with organic fertilizer, spread within 1.5 m of the trunk and lightly worked in.

Or choose

Clear weeds around the base before applying.

2

Sep – Oct

Late rains — application 2

Add nut weight, thicker flesh and sweeter water, and prepare the palm for the dry season.

Recommended

Rate & method: 13-13-21 at 2 kg/tree while the soil is still moist.

Or choose

If nuts are small with thin flesh, choose a high-potassium formula (15-10-30 or 14-7-35) this round.

Add every time you fertilize

Mor Coconut supplies the magnesium, boron and salt (chloride) coconuts need. Apply it with your NPK every time, in place of the magnesium sulphate or dolomite in standard advice.

Choose the approach that fits your farm

Easy start — keep your formulas

Keep applying your usual formula twice a year and add Mor Coconut each time.

Recommended

Full programme

13-13-21 at the start and end of the rains, 2 kg/tree each, plus Mor Coconut and organic fertilizer at the start of the rains.

Aromatic coconut — sweetness

Switch to high-potassium 15-10-30 or 14-7-35 in the late-rains round for sweeter, more fragrant water.

Good to know

  • Trees aged 1 / 2 / 3 years: 1 / 2 / 3 kg of compound fertilizer per tree per year, split in two.
  • Add manure or compost at the start of the rains to raise organic matter.
  • Apply in a ring trench 1 m from the trunk, or in three holes 1.5 m from the base.

Rates on this page are general guidance for bearing trees. Adjust for tree age, canopy size, crop load and soil test results. Months are approximate and vary by region.
